Who can apply
Open-merit seats:
- Pakistani citizens, including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
- NUMS MDCAT 2026 (held 13 September 2026) is mandatory — minimum 55% for MBBS, 50% for BDS.
- Minimum 60% aggregate in FSc (Pre-Medical) or equivalent, with at least twelve years of education in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics. A-Level/12th-grade applicants need an IBCC equivalence certificate.
Foreign seats:
- Overseas Pakistanis, foreign nationals, Green Card / Iqama / Maple Card holders.
- Minimum 60% in HSSC/12th grade or equivalent with Chemistry and Biology as mandatory subjects.
- NUMS MDCAT 2026 with 55% (MBBS) / 50% (BDS), or SAT-II with 550 in each subject, or MCAT (USA) / UCAT (UK) with 50% in the prescribed subjects.
How merit is calculated
NUMS MDCAT (or valid MCAT/UCAT) 50% · HSSC/FSc 40% · SSC/Matric 10%. (See how MDCAT merit is calculated.)
How to apply
- Go to the official NUMS admissions page and open the online application link.
- Read the "Procedure for How to Fill Online Application Form" document before starting.
- Fill the form for open-merit or foreign seats and submit before 11 November, 4:00 PM to avoid the late fee.
- Keep checking the NUMS site for the provisional merit list on 10 December 2026.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Waiting for the late-fee window. It costs Rs 1,000–5,000 more and leaves no margin for document corrections.
- Applying without the NUMS MDCAT 2026. The PMDC MDCAT does not substitute for it — NUMS requires its own test (or SAT-II/MCAT/UCAT for foreign seats).
- Missing the IBCC equivalence. A-Level and foreign-qualification applicants must arrange equivalence early; it is a common last-week bottleneck.

FAQ
Common questions
Is the NUMS test the same as the PMDC MDCAT?
No. NUMS conducts its own MDCAT (held 13 September 2026 for this session). Passing it with 55% (MBBS) or 50% (BDS) is mandatory for open-merit seats.
Can I apply for both MBBS and BDS?
The centralized process covers both programs; follow the application procedure for your preferred program as instructed on the portal.
When will classes start?
Tentatively 15 February 2027 for MBBS and 15 March 2027 for BDS, per the official schedule.
